Dmitry Druzhinsky’s passion for property development began in 2000, when he spearheaded the construction of his own home. He has since been responsible for the development and sale of over one hundred properties. As co-founder of MatchPoint NYC, his prior experience in the acquisition and repurposing of land was instrumental to the success of the great $20 million facility. The arduous negotiation process with New York City’s Board of Standards and Appeals to gain permission to develop the highly sought after three acre lot was finalized only after the businessman worked with the city to “de-map” a street which had been unused for the last century, but bisected one of the parcels where the structure was to be built. Upon its completion, the center became the largest recreational facility of it’s like in Brooklyn, and the second such complex in all of New York.
Located on a three acre lot on Coney Island, MatchPointNYC features over 120,000 square feet of top of the line equipment and amenities. Its most notable aspect is an expansive nine court indoor tennis center, the biggest of its kind in Brooklyn. This luxury sports center was co-founded by Dmitry Druzhinsky in 2013, after he noticed a lack of recreational infrastructure in the area. Due to his dedication to the club’s members, employees, and the surrounding community, the complex quickly became the preferred venue for families, professional athletes, and cause driven charity events. “They are great to work with,” noted Darren Port, CEO of Powered by Professionals and one of the organizers of this year’s tournament, “He has really gone out of his way to invite us to work with them, and that has helped make the event really special in the two years we have had it here. The foundation does a great job in keeping its expenses low to ensure that the money raised goes towards the cause, and MatchPoint’s generosity helps make that possible.”
In its Junior Olympic pool and Kids Aquatic Center, MatchPoint NYC offers swimming lessons to both youth and adults. A favorite program of local residents, attendees range from toddlers to aspiring Olympians and are led by coach Konstantin Petrov. Dmitry Druzhinsky notes that they are in good hands, “Konstantin currently holds a Level 4 Certificate from the American Swimming Coaching Association, placing him in the top five percentile of all coaches in the country.” With over thirty years of experience on a local, national, and international level, Petrov is also a former Olympic Bronze medalist.
Druzhinsky, along with the members and staff of MatchPoint NYC, are proud to be the venue of preference for several cause-driven fundraisers and events annually, where players have an opportunity to demonstrate their skills in fierce but friendly matches while inspiring younger athletes to stay healthy, follow their passion, and do good. In addition to wall ball tournaments, Dmitry Druzhinsky hosts a group of Wall Street finance industry professionals competing in the annual R Baby Foundation New York Tennis Tournament, which the goal of improving outcomes of medical care for infants by funding programs at hospitals. Programs including telemedicine with pediatric experts, mobile simulation training program, symposiums and more benefit from the event, which has raised more than $500,000 in the two years it’s been held at MatchPoint NYC.
Dmitry Druzhinsky and MatchPoint NYC staff are proud to offer a wide range of activities at their superior center for sporting excellence. Konstantin Petrov, MatchPoint’s aquatic director, is an outstanding athlete with a Bronze medal from the Olympics and Gold medal from the European Championships. The swim team he leads trains on a year-round schedule built to help athletes achieve their peak performance. Previously successful events include the International Sambo Championship, which saw participants from all over the world attend. Partnering with the American Amateur Sambo Federation (AASF), MatchPoint NYC is the proud venue of choice for over ten countries sending athletes to demonstrate their Sambo, Judo, or mixed martial arts skill. In the state-of-the-art tennis facility, MatchPoint NYC offer’s the world-class junior tournament training system, a program available based on invite only to highly ranked national and international players. Offering personalized coaching, intensive drills, match play, mental conditioning, and world-class athletic events for both youth and adults, MatchPoint NYC is the premier fitness center in the region.
MatchPoint NYC has more than 120,000 square feet of available space, and many leading athletic associations are looking at the facility as an excellent place to host tournaments and special events. Professional tennis star and Olympic silver medalist Dinara Safina was on-site along with Dmitry Druzhinsky for the Say No to Bullying! Fitness Day, at which MatchPoint NYC’s Personal Training and Group Fitness staff offered free blood pressure tests, family entertainment and education about the problems associated with bullying. At the same time, a state-of-the-art indoor cycling system was also introduced. A step up from traditional stationary bikes, the Real Ryder Indoor Cycling system provides a real interactive cycling experience, the first of it’s kind in New York.
